Hi! I’ve been so hyped about seeing My Wife & I since I saw the trailer while seeing Girls Trip. I was eagerly counting down and looking forward to August 25 even though I knew I wasn’t going to see the movie immediately. As much as I love Nollywood movies, I’m not one to carry my money to go to see a movie in its first week out, lol, I’m patient enough to wait till the price becomes normal.
I went to Ibadan this past weekend to see Grace, I got there in the evening and after our usual gists, we decided to go see a movie. I didn’t have any particular movie in mind because I was already sure of seeing My Wife & I with my “movie gang” when the price comes down. We got to the cinema and the movie was showing for 1k, I was like whhhaaattttt?! The movie came out just a day before and it was showing for just 1k a day after, on a friggin’ weekend!!! I ended up buying 2 tickets, 1 large popcorn, 1 hotdog and 2 bottles of Coke for just 2400 naira! My ancestors would have been really mad at me if I passed up on that opportunity, no jokes. -_-
My Wife & I is a body swap movie like Change Up, It’s a Boy Girl Thing and Freaky Friday. Ebere (Omoni Oboli) and Toyosi (Ramsey Noauh) had been married for 17 (or so) years, the marriage was rocky and they were on the verge of getting a divorce. Ebere’s mother (Rachael Oniga) suggests that they go see a Pastor (Seyilaw) for counselling before going through with the divorce. Long story short, they wake up swapped.
I totally loved Ramsey Nouah’s performance. My favourite scene was when they were out having dinner and their daughter, Ireti (Jemima Osunde) sees her period and Ramsey had to go buy her sanitary towels. I also liked when Toyosi’s sister was having her bridal shower and Ebere (Ramsey Nouah) had to attend. I’m trying so hard not to spoil this movie ugh.
Wonderful cast, superb acting, very funny scenes. I’ll definitely see this movie again. Well, it’s not like I have a choice. I’m seeing it with my movie gang on Wednesday again and I’m footing the bills. Apparently, that’s my punishment for seeing the movie without them. Anyway, I had a great weekend with my lover and I’m looking forward to this weekend- it’s my friend’s bridal shower on Sunday. Can’t wait.
